Feministing

I'm reading Full Frontal Feminism by Jennifer Valenti, the founder of the feminist blog feministing.com. In addition to her blog, she lists several books I want to check out:

The Beauty Myth - Naomi Wolf
Woman: An Intimate Geography - Natalie Angier
Manhood In America: A Cultural History - Michael Kimmel

Trade Publications for Libraries

are dangerous. I picked up a copy of Library Journal and BookList at the public library in Chatham and less than an hour had several new must reads. These were written in the margins of a flier, also from the library, that listed potential beach reads.

Faith Under Fire - Benimoff
A Reliable Wife - Goolrick
The Earth Hums in B Flat - Mari Strachan
Native American Wisdom - Watkins
Deeply Rooted: Unconventional Farmers in the Age of Agribusiness - Hamilton
Broken: A Love Story - Lisa Jones
Neuton and the Counterfeiters - Levenson
The Zookeepers Wife - Diane Ackerman
Syncopated - Brenden Burford (ed) (This one I'm really excited about: 14 non-fiction picto essays!)

As for the beach reads, many look good although there are some on the list I have tried and failed (miserably) to enjoy. On the other hand I did like The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing (Melissa Bank) and The Little Lady Agency (Hester Browne). The books/authors I may want to check out are:
Adriana Trigiani
Kristen Gore
Agnes and the Hitman - Jennifer Cruise
Megan Crane
